Max K Media/Automation
Systems that rununattended
Control systems engineering for heavy industry — PLC, SCADA, process control and the reporting layer on top. The day job, and the reason the rest of this is run the way it is.
Capability
Where I'm useful.
Mostly the unglamorous half: the loop that won't settle, the alarm list nobody can read, the controller that has to come off a platform the vendor stopped supporting.
PLC
Ladder, structured text and FBD. Programming, fault-finding and staged platform migration.
SCADA
HMI development, CiCode functions, and alarm and trend systems that operators actually use.
Process control
Loop tuning and process modelling — including cascade control rebuilt on a rolling-average model.
Data
Historian integration, backfill and automated reporting that reconciles with what the plant did.
Tooling
Lightweight internal dashboards and lookup tools, built to survive an SOE audit.
Platforms
What I work on.
Described by capability rather than by site — client specifics stay with the client.
Schneider
M340, M580, Quantum and Premium, through Control Expert. Inventory, dependency mapping and migration.
Citect / AVEVA
HMI development, CiCode, alarm rationalisation and trend configuration.
PI System
Tag structure, backfill tooling, and the reporting built on top of it.
Python · .NET · SQL
The glue: extraction, translation, reporting, and the small tools that save an operator an hour a shift.

Background
Where this comes from.
Control Systems Engineer at Evolution Mining, working on industrial automation and SCADA in a live mining environment. Previously at UGL. Degree in IT and network engineering — which is why the automation work and the web work keep borrowing tools from each other.
Automation engagements are considered case by case and around existing commitments. If you have a problem worth looking at, start with a conversation rather than a brief.
Get in touch
Let's build the whole thing.
A loop that won't settle, an alarm list nobody reads, a migration you'd rather not do twice. Describe the problem and I'll tell you if I'm the right person for it.
